Steam Trap Audit & Repair

trap.jpg

Steam heating systems have a forgotten half, the radiators. Two-pipe steam systems have traps installed throughout the building. These devices prevent steam and water from traveling in the same pipe and causing steam hammer.

Steam traps should be replaced based on the lifecycle of your system or right away when the system starts to make loud noises. A single broken trap can cascade into an entire return of destroyed traps.

Single-pipe steam systems don't use traps. Instead they use steam vents. These devices allow trapped air inside the system to vent out until the radiators are full of steam. Many times you will find that contractors throughout the years have removed or capped off these vents. When this happens the air can't vent out properly and you will get uneven heat, or maybe no heat at all in some rooms.

We can provide steam trap testing and replacement services on a wide array of systems and have access to newly-manufactured trap components to keep your system working.
